Ghost island

Thats exactly the vibe i get on this island! We went from koh phi phi to its neighbour koh lanta. Since its low season they don't even have a big boat running from island to island, only a speedboat that runs every second day. Aspen and i got lucky and the day we wanted to leave there was a boat running. I swear our driver looked about 14 though, he needed a cushion to sit on while he drove the boat in order to see over the steering wheel. No need to fret though, we made it to koh lanta perfectly fine!

The fun part was the drive to the hotel. They had only sent one van to the dock and we all couldn't fit so aspen and i jump into the first one, just jacked we don't have to wait outside for a new van. So we are driving along and we turn a corner and something smashes around in the back of the van. The driver pulla over and runs to the back to put a jerry can of gas upright. You would think after it fell over once he might think it would be a good idea to actually secure the gas down. Oh no he just puts it upright and takes off once again, although he did try to take corners at a slower speed. This just wasn't good enough though and next turn he takes we hear the gas tip over and people in the back yell out that its leaking and then someone yells, its petrol!!! Luckly the driver had pulled over because the lady next to me threw open the door and we all jumped out in a hurry. I nearly rolled my ankles sprinting out and then down the road, its a running vehicle with spilled gas all over inside! They tell you to turn your car off at the gas station while you fill for a reason. I would have continues running down the road and away from the ticking bomb but no one else seemed concerned and the driver was so calm about the situation he insisted we all get back in to the van and drive with the door open. Um, no thanks i will walk from here. Everyone agreed and so he sent for another van. He left all of us stabding on te side of the road and the second van passed by us. I'm sure they were laughing.

Finally a new van pulled up and took us to our destination. And wow, we are in a resort. Our bungalow is beautiful. We spoiled ourselves. It comes complete with tv, AC, a outdoor rain shower, and our own beds! Which is pretty awesome because we have been sharing beds fir awhile. Oh and it has a beautiful pool! I love it, its like a total getaway. Once you step off the resort though you get that deserted town feeling. Its currently low season so not much is open, thankfully there is a 7-11 a little bit aways for us to grab water and snacks.

Things are pretty mellow around here which will be nice because patong is going to be absolute craziness. We head over to that area on tuesday, so until then i am going to enjoy being a complete loaf on this island. There is a 6km viewpoint hike that i think i will check out so i am not completely useless. Anyway, probably won't have too much to update everyone on until phuket, but if that changes i'll be sure to throw an update on here!
